The mission of the Women’s Sailing Program (Sailing and She-splaining) is to empower women at the club to sail confidently at any stage or your boating career through community-based support and our network of women. The eventual goal is to develop a growing population of female skippers on the bay that will enjoy the freedom of both cruising and racing, building their own crew and developing comradery with on and off the water activities. Most activities will have a cost associated to pay for resources needed. The amounts will be determined based on attendance numbers and resource costs with the goal of keeping each activity as feasible as possible for everyone.

Description of Events:
Beginning and Intermediate Sailing Instructional Weekend: This will be held as a 2 day course with partial off the water prep and full day on the water instruction to accommodate new sailors to sailors that want to apply their knowledge in becoming more confident with helming a vessel. The course will be led by Lauren Eisle, a professional sailing coach, licensed US Coast Guard Captain, certified US Sailing and ASA Sailing Instructor. We will use the B-side of the Basin to dock up boats for OTW instruction, possible regatta room, if available, to do off the water prep.
Rock the Dock: Instructional course to work away docking anxiety. Each participant will dock numerous times with instructor Lauren to both master (or confidently succeed) in side and stern tying.
Instructional 2 day cruise-out to Angel Island: Instructor Lauren to guide participants on how to prepare for a cruise out in terms of boat prep and gear. Instruction in mooring, side tying and night sailing will also be offered. The cruise out will be available to non-instructional crews that will join us for evening activities, Angel Island morning yoga, hike and brunch on the water.
Girls Just Want to Cruise Out: This will be a flexible cruise-out with the participants to create community. The boats will be helmed by female owners and crewed by the group. Destinations would be as close as a lunch at Jack London to Marin overnights.
Cooking & Cruising: Cooking & Cruising will be instructed by local chefs or “great cooks we know” in workshop style where everyone will enjoy making food and simulate how to prepare while at sea or port. The meal will target easy and healthy choices that can easily be put together while sailing the bay or along the coast.
Full Boat Body Workout and Brunch: This will be run by EYC members that are local licensed instructors that will create workouts one can do while sailing or at port. It will include strength training, cardio and pilates. The workout will end up with those interested with a br/lunch at the club. This may take place in the outside lawn area or regatta room if available.
